Black Silver Marans are one of the more unique and eye-catching varieties in our breeding program. These birds are still considered a developing project flock here at 3F Farms, with our primary goals being improvement in overall type, consistency, and silver expression while maintaining the hardy, docile nature and rich egg color Marans are known for.
This variety is essentially the silver-based counterpart to the traditional Black Copper Marans, replacing the warm copper tones with cooler silver hackles and accents. Because this project is still actively being refined, silver coloring and pattern consistency are very much a work in progress. Offspring may vary in silver expression, leakage, and overall appearance as we continue selecting toward a more uniform flock.
Our focus with these birds is:
Improving clean silver coloration
Maintaining correct Marans type and structure
Preserving feathered shanks
Continuing selection for darker egg color and bloom
These are offered in very limited quantities due to the small size of our breeding group and ongoing selective breeding efforts.

Hatching eggs are a gamble due to variables outside of our control, including shipping conditions, handling, and incubation practices.
Fertility is checked regularly within the flock, but hatch rates cannot be guaranteed.
